Twinning represents an alternative to "low pressure, wide series" equipment, with the advantage of being able to return to "tractor tire only" use when disassembled. However, it is a handicap for road travel and the user must comply with local legislation.

In addition to the wide series, this technique is used to achieve one of the following results

- Decrease the tire pressure and thus reduce the ground compaction.

- Increase the traction capacity.

- Increase the load capacity.
